The Text :

1.                                              1               James is 19 and he  lives in a small flat in Cambridge. He lives with two other boys who are students at Cambridge University. They work hard during the week, but at weekends they invite a lot of friends to their house .They cook a meal with their friends, and then they go out to the pub for a drink, or they stay at home and listen to music.

2.                               James  has two jobs. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays he works in a hospital, where he helps to look after children who are ill. He goes there  by bus. He starts at ten o’clock and works until quarter past five .On Thursdays and Fridays he works at home. He has a word processor in his bedroom and he writes stories.  

3.                                      In the evening, one of the boys cooks meal. After dinner they look in the newspaper to see what’s on TV or they talk about their day. They usually go to bed at about midnight.

             The Text

1.     Elleen Peel  is over ninety years old She lives in a village in the country with her five cats. She is not married ,but she loves children. She is very happy, but she can remember times when her life was difficult. She often thinks about her past.

2.     Elleen’s father died in the war in 1915 and her mother died a year later. Elleen was twelve years old. Immediately she started work as a housemaid with a rich family in London.

3.     She worked from 5.30 in the morning until 9.00 at night. She cleaned all the rooms in the house before breakfast .She earned  £ 15 a year.

4.     In 1921 she moved to another family .She liked her new job because she looked after the children. There were five children, four sons and one daughter.

5.      She loved them , especially the baby Robert. He was nice and kind. She stayed with that family for twenty years. Ellen never married. She just looked after other’s people children until she retired when she was seventy years old.
